Online Casino Group Could Close Doors to US2 Apr 2007
A leading online casino group is the latest online gaming company seriously considering leaving the US market thanks to the passing of the UIGEA, or Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The online casino company has been doubtful of remaining in the US market since the passing of this law in October of 2006. Online casinos players are waiting anxiously to see what this online casinos group will decide to do and how soon it will do it.
‘It will be tough in the coming months as most online gaming companies will look to Asia and Europe, driving up prices for media in those regions,’ said Todd Wolf, the online casino group’s marketing manager. Online casino firms are finding that the online casino gaming markets in these two continents are growing at an extremely rapid rate. This is due in part largely because of the UIGEA.
The UIGEA is aimed to ban all electronic transfers, credit cards, and checks to online casino gaming companies. This will leave variety of online casino accounts available for US residents to use for depositing. A host of online casino poker rooms and other online casinos have already withdrawn services to their US customers. Instead, they have decided to focus attention on other world markets, like those of Europe and Asia. It seems this is the future, or at least a large part of it, for the online casino industry. The question is, will Asia and Europe remain legal territory for the online casino industry, or will these countries also follow in the footsteps of the US? Only time will tell.
