Bet On The Goat’s Fate At The Online Casino14 Dec 2006
Most chances are that 99.9% percent of all online casino gamblers haven’t heard of the Swedish town Gavle even once in their life. For the past 40 years now, the Gavle people have built a giant straw goat to mark the start of the festive season every single year. In addition, every year, since 1966, vandals try to destroy the goat, in what has already become a funny, and bizarre, ritual. This year, for the first time, an online casino site is offering the possibility to bet on whether the straw goat of Gavle will survive through Christmas day.
Online casino gamblers must know that the goat, which is 13 meter tall, has been able to survive the attacks only 10 times since 1966. Last year, for example, the poor giant goat didn’t make it, as two culprits dressed as Father Christmas and the Gingerbread man managed to burn the straw-made goat. This year, says the constructor, the goat is totally fire-proof, making the vandal’s work a bit harder. Nevertheless, the online casino has listed the odds of the goat’s demise prior to Christmas Day as a 2/3 favorite.
“Despite the fact that this year’s straw goat is covered in a waterproof, flame-retardant coating, we still think that most chances are that the vandals will end up victorious” says a spokesman of the online casino site. The bet offer on the site is whether the goat will survive until midnight (Central European Time) of December 24th and 25th. The goat’s luck may not have been on its best the last couple of years, but online casino gamblers hope that luck will be on their side this Christmas day.
